Thailand’s MICE crusade was established in 2014 with four key founding members including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Airways International PLC, the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association, and TCEB.
Strategically located in the hub of the ASEAN region, Thailand boasts a reliable reputation within the Meeting, Incentive, Convention & Exhibition (MICE) industry. The unique blend of historical cultures, modern world capability, broad spectrum of meeting venues, exhibition centers and accommodation options, makes Thailand your destination of choice. In a bid to further strengthen its presence in India, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) recently conducted roadshow in Kolkata, 20th July’2015 at ITC Sonar Bangla along with 14 industry partners. During the roadshows, TCEB highlighted its role as ‘Thailand’s MICE One Stop Service’ and introduced its Mega Event ‘Thailand Connect’ promotional campaign to boost MICE travel from India.
The main objective of the road show was to promote Thailand as a preferred MICE destination for Indian buyers and provide an update on the latest MICE products in Thailand. Together with the launch of the campaign, TCEB also joined forces with TrueMove H and BTS Skytrain to introduce the ‘Thailand Connect’ welcome package, as a sales and marketing tool to attract international MICE visitors to experience Thailand’s MICE industry, and strengthen Thailand’s position as a preferred MICE destination in Asia.
During the event, TCEB highlighted its role as Thailand’s MICE One Stop Service and introduced the ‘Mega Event’ promotional campaign. The Thai industry partners who participated were Phuket Vintage Park, Asian Smile Corporation, Asian Trails, Centara Grand at Central World, Red Apple Holidays, Royal Cliff Hotels Group, Sofitel Krabi Plokeethra Golf & Spa Resort, Impact Exhibition Management Company, Exquisite Travels, Chiang Mai Night Safari Resort, Travel Bullz, Grand Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok, Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa, Thai Journey, Apollo Holidays, Thai Airways International and Bangkok Airways. The event bring together more than 150 buyers, suppliers, media and industry experts, Thailand’s MICE showcases and a welcome lunch reception.
Further, in an attempt to further increase connectivity to India, Bangkok Airways will commence daily flights from Kolkata via Bangkok to Hua Hun and Phuket by month end and will introduce daily flights from Kolkata to Krabi in near future.
The initiative was well received by target audiences through a wide range of activities including international media familiarisation trips, and Thailand MICE Roadshows. These roadshows created business opportunities via ‘buyers meet sellers’ tabletop session and networking sessions with the travel trade partners and corporate decision-makers. The roadshows received an overwhelming response with an attendance of over 150 travel agents and tour operators in Kolkata. The event focused on educating the Eastern Indian travel trade on Thailand’s vast MICE offerings and highlighted the country as an ideal value-for-money destination for MICE and short-haul vacations.
It is expected that this campaign will be able to reach a targeted MICE industry audience of more than 1,000,000. In addition, TCEB foresees that in 2015 Thailand will welcome 1,036,300 international MICE visitors, earning the Thai economy 106,780 million baht.
Tag line – No matter the size or budget, TCEB is your partner for a successful event!
